The message seems a very forlorn one as it reads - 'Dear Kenneth,Yet another christmas and still a long, long way from home. I wonder how long now?Thank god I shall have slightly better christmas this year than last. Let us hope that the next one I shall spend at home. Honestly I cannot imagine what things shall be like. It shall be like being born all over again. Please remem(ber me??) to Florrie and all at home. Happy christmas Murray.' It is dated 12 Dec.1944 which is very late on in the war when the allies were closing in on German soil so his Stalag may have been liberated soon after this letter was sent.
